Gingerbread

Mrs. Karen helped us to create a gingerbread man ornament.
Our adorable little classroom tree.  We love to decorate it, undecorate it, decorate it...
Our two favorite stories this week.
This activity involved letter recognition, reading color words, and matching.

We love the homemade dough provided each month.  The Christmas cookie cutters were a hit today after reading about the gingerbread man!
We love to make ornaments to take home to our families.
This tree is made of felt.  We have a variety of felt ornaments and velcro decorations.  See how carefully she places each ornament in the perfect place.  Precious!
We made these homemade ornaments by mixing and measuring applesauce, cinnamon, and glue.  Here is the recipe:  1/4 cup of applesauce, 1 cup ground cinnamon, 1/2 cup of Elmer's glue

Here we are working with beads, stringing them onto a pipe cleaner, carefully counting to be sure that we have 20 before we make a cute little wreath ornament for our family tree.
Here we are taste testing.  We tried half a sugar cookie & half a gingerbread cookie and then decided which one was our favorite.  When we were finished sampling, we found our name and placed it on the classroom graph to see which one is the classroom favorite.

We LOVE using dice to do our math at preschool!  In this activity, we roll once, identify the number on top, find an ornament on the tree that is the same, and color it in.  Our activity is finished when we have rolled all the numbers and colored in all the ornaments.  One of the boys said this was "totally awesome".

Here we are using winter theme stamps to complete patterns.
These girls are reading a "key" with their color words to know how to complete the picture of Santa.

After the applesauce & cinnamon ornaments have dried for 5 days, they are solid enough to send home.  They smell so yummy!

Guess who came to visit us this week?  Elfie!!  He was in this homemade hot air balloon floating above our work tables.  He left a note for us that told us that he was so proud of our good manners and hard work at preschool.  He left a gift for us to keep at school.  Straws & connectors, best gift ever!!
Mrs. Jaime has a special foam dough in the sensory tub.  She said that we could use it today.  We decided to make pretend snowballs, and then build snowmen!
